FREMONT, CA: Businesses, consumers, and ordinary life are still being impacted a year after the COVID-19 outbreak began. To keep up with the transition and reliance on the internet of things and Artificial Intelligence (AI), technology has adapted at a breakneck pace. Even though vaccines have begun to be distributed, most states still have social distancing policies in place. Fortunately, Internet of Things (IoT) technology has made it easier for people to be safe and healthy. Here are some of the ways that IoT technology is helping to keep people safe.
Smartphones
The most useful and practical instrument for promoting social separation is right in the pocket. Today's cell phones include several features that encourage people to remain at a safe distance. But it is now gone a step farther. COVID tracking is available on all smartphone devices. Users can utilize this system to see if they were near someone who has COVID-19, such as in school or the grocery store. Smart phones' contact tracing capabilities are also enhanced by health updates and augmented reality. People use these technologies to convey messages and information virtually, avoiding human contact.
Wearable Proximity Alarms
Wearables have become popular among business owners as a way to maintain social distance. Employees wear smart wristbands or IDs that communicate with one another to determine how far apart they are. The wearables will beep if two employees come too close together. The NLF utilized smart wristbands to promote social distancing and track players' whereabouts in case they were near someone who tested positive for COVID-19. This greatly aids employees in remaining apart from one another even when they cannot see one another. They may not be able to see another worker until they are too close in a warehouse, for example. They will not have to stay vigilant to keep their distance from these beeping devices.
AI Cameras
Smaller offices make it tough to keep individuals socially separated, and staff cannot always keep track of customers who are not, but AI-enabled cameras can help. AI cameras look at video feeds to see if people are remaining within six feet of one other. They can warn employees if customers are getting too close too often and show them open places where they can relocate instead. With this IoT technology, small enterprises will be able to promote social distancing more successfully.
